Water Main Repair / Rebuilding together

Dear Edgewood Family,

I thought you might be interested in seeing some of the work that has gone into repairing an underground leak of the water main that goes to our building. The crew had to dig 8 feet to get to the steel pipe that had broken, which had been cracked by a rock pushing its way to the surface!

We can thank the Lord for Facilities Director Jim Wasley and his connections, which led to the speedy repair of our latest maintenance issue! Due to a few ongoing building issues, we are going to launch a compassion first stewardship effort in the fall called “Rebuilding Together.” By "compassion first," we mean that the first 10% of what is raised will go toward meeting the needs of the poor. By "stewardship effort," we mean that we will have a two-year (we think) effort to provide funds for the maintenance of this great facility God has given us, from which we bear witness to the Light of Christ.

Although our construction target areas are not completely set in concrete (get it?), we will probably look to purchase a new boiler, make significant roof repairs, do some parking lot repaving, and install a new HVAC system in the teen area. We realize not all of these items are glamorous -- actually, none of these are glamorous -- all of them are necessary in order for us to be the lighthouse for Christ that God desires.

More to come, but we wanted to give you a heads up about what we are planning for the future of Edgewood.

Rebuilding with you,

Pastor Doug and the Leadership Board
