Closing our Budget Deficit
Closing our Budget Deficit by Thanksgiving!
Dear Edgewood Family,
We are a blessed congregation in many ways. We have a strong and growing congregation that includes everybody from generations of faithful Christians; to new believers; to many people who are seeking, whom we pray will recognize that they have been called by Jesus. We have also been blessed with a strong and vibrant staff and a facility that has become a lighthouse for Christ throughout this area. But we also have challenges.
One of those challenges is our current financial situation. As of today, we have a budget deficit of $52,000 (adjusted weekly). In addition to the deficit, we have encountered unanticipated expenses this year of $15,000 due mostly to facility related issues such as RG&E increases, snow plowing, heating system repairs, and the (now famous) catch basin in the front parking lot.
The Leadership Board and I are asking you to pray and ask the Lord how He might want you to help in closing the deficit by November 27th, Thanksgiving Day, helping us to finish the 2025 calendar year strong. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Mike Deats, to me, or to any of our board members, and we will do our best to answer the questions you might have.
A note of hope: One thing people who study churches have found is that it is growing churches with lots of unchurched or newly churched people that typically struggle with finances. More established churches who have a group that doesn’t change very much and who have been around a long time are typically churches that experience financial health. However, they don’t see as many new people. I, for one, am thankful that we are in the former group!
We view this to be a time where all of us together, our Edgewood family, can step into the gap and where we can each learn to “excel (grow quickly) in this grace of giving.” (2 Corinthians 8:7 NIV). It may be through learning to tithe, if you do not currently, or providing an additional offering this season. Together, as one body, we will meet the challenge, and I fully expect through faith, see the Lord working in ways we did not anticipate.
With you in "honoring the Lord” with our wealth (Proverbs 3:9)
