Accessibility & Inclusion Seminar

  • Edgewood Church 111 East Jefferson Road Pittsford, NY, 14534 United States (map)

At Edgewood, we want every person and family to have the opportunity to belong, participate, and grow in their relationship with God. Creating a more accessible church helps remove barriers so that people of all abilities can fully engage in the life of the church and use the gifts God has given them.

Join the Edgewood Church Accessibility Team on October 11 for an Accessibility & Inclusion Workshop featuring guest speaker Sandra Peoples. Together, we’ll learn practical ways to better support individuals and families affected by disability, strengthen accessibility within our ministries, and equip people of all abilities to serve and participate.

Sandra serves as a disability ministry consultant for the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, helping churches start and strengthen disability ministries. She is also the author of Accessible Church: A Gospel-Centered Vision for Including People with Disabilities and Their Families.

The workshop will be presented via Zoom and hosted in the Chapel.

Beyond Accommodation: Creating a Culture of Accessibility and Belonging

What would it look like for adults with disabilities to move from being accommodated in church to truly belonging in the life of the church? This workshop will explore practical ways to create a culture of accessibility and belonging across the entire church, with a particular focus on adults with visible and hidden disabilities. Participants will identify barriers in worship, adult Sunday school and groups, and everyday church life—including sensory, hearing, vision, and mobility barriers—and learn practical ways to remove them. Together, we’ll consider how the entire congregation can move beyond simply serving people with disabilities to naturally welcoming, including, and serving alongside them as valued members of the body of Christ.

I was envisioning an Video call with slides, then do Q&A at the end.
